Angling or Fishing as it is more commonly known is an extremely popular recreational activity in the West and is now gaining popularity in India as well. It basically means fishing with the use of an angle or fish hook. More and more people are showing interest in this sport and taking to locations in the foothills of the Himalayas to take part in this activity.

Pong Lake and River Beas, lying in the lap of the mighty Dhauladhar mountain ranges in the Kangra Valley, irrigated with streams hurling down from perennial glaciers, and in the midst of groves and fruit trees, serve as attractive fish grounds for many angling enthusiasts. Kangra has been known as the home of the mighty Golden Mahseer to which effect various evidences are available from the vivid accounts of many anglers interested in this big fish.

Besides Mahseer, the other fish available are Malhi, Soal, Bachwa, God Shingara (Catfish) etc. Although there are many rivers and streams where Golden Mahseer is available, River Beas with approximately 40 kms length and Pong Lake with 402 sq.km area are considered the best in Himachal Pradesh for Golden Mahseer angling.

Day 01 : Arrival at McLeodGanj

On the first day you arrive in McLeodGanj and head to the comforts of your hotel. This day is spent relaxing and exploring this quaint and serene hill town. Walking around the narrow trails surrounded by thick oak and deodar trees or strolling in the Tibetan market are some of the experiences you can have here that you will find extremely pleasant and refreshing. You could also choose to visit the Dalai Lama Temple or visit the nearby Bhagsu Naag waterfall. Return to the hotel in the evening for an overnight stay.

Day 02 : McLeodGanj to Pong Lake

This day would start as early as 6 AM and post breakfast we will take you for the much anticipated angling trip to the River Beas and Pong Lake. Spend the rest of the day experiencing and enjoying this fun and relaxing activity, sitting amidst the breathtaking views of the Shivalik Ranges. Around mid-day relish your lunch by the river side. We take you back to McLeodGanj by late evening. Have your dinner and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03 : Departure

Today your fantastic trip comes to an end. Have your breakfast and get ready to leave for your journey back home with a heart full of fun memories.
